Make it + Bed

How to make the Lille Huset prim and proper bed: Pop out the bed pieces and¬†two pieces of decorative trim. Cut the decorative trim pieces in half and tape them to the head and footboard, punch holes in the top to add bakers twine. Cut paper to the size of the mattress to make a duvet and cut out a fabric square for a pillow. Add paper to the bottom brace to make a dust ruffle. Cut out¬†paper and add to the fronts of the head and footboard with tape and add paper to the new bed posts. Draw on a pretty P and roses to make it a special Primrose bed. Stand up the headboard and footboard with the bottom brace. Slide in the mattress. Add the new duvet and pillow and you’ve made it!

Logan- Our Little Victorian Castle

Logan is the house that is so big and perfect that all of the other houses think of him as a castle. He is a house that sits on the grand boulevard with high peaks that seem to reach to the sky. The owners of this house keep the house in perfect condition no matter the season. All year round they keep twinkle lights on the one little tree that sits in the middle of the perfect lawn. Each and every night when the lights turn on he seems even more magical.

Make it: Sod Roof

As promised here is the first thing to make for your Primrose, making it the perfect English cottage, a sod roof. I made mine with artificial moss. I used: SuperMoss, you can click here to buy it at Joann. I cut it to size and attached it to the roof of the primrose with glue dots. My kids went crazy when they saw it. Tomorrow, we will make a super cute window box for the front.

Make it: Primrose 01

I have been so excited about starting this series of “Make it” for your huset that I spent all day working on our first one, Primrose. I have started a board on pinterest with English cottage inspiration (you can link to it here). It will take a few days to post all of the things I made but I hope you are excited to follow along and ask any questions along the way! Enjoy! Day one: Supplies

“Make It” Quilt

Every huset needs to be snuggly and cozy inside so we have been working on a simple quilt you can make for your home. All you need is: One piece of fabric cut 8 inches long by 4 inches wide Quilt batting: I like the eco friendly option from “The Warm Company” Sewing Machine or needle and thread (you can do this by hand too). Now get started (follow the simple directions below):

DIY Toilet Paper Race Cars

This was a super popular pin this week that we put on our DIY board. It is so cute and easy and perfect to go with your lille city. We found it here: What a great Blog!! Step 1: Collect toilet paper rolls Step 2: Paint them Step 3: Cut circles out of cardboard Step 4: Paint them Step 6: Attach them to the cars with brads.

Maddie’s “How to”

With a little help from our friends at Wooly Boo, Maddie’s first “How to” is a simple bed. All she used is one long rectangular block and an adorable duvet from Selma at Wooly Boo. We also did our first set of DIY dolls from Goose Grease . Why is baby always awake when mom is trying to sleep? Who is Maddie? Maddie is our featured kid of the week and ehem, my daughter. She is our resident 8 year old expert in all things Lille Huset. She received the first little huset to ever exist for her 6th birthday and has been crafting ever since. She and her brother, Simon, are always coming up with new great ideas for the houses which we will share with you too.

What is a Lille Huset Without Curtains?

… Boring! Here is a super quick¬† 2 step “how to” about curtains… Design tip: When you make your curtains think about how to make your windows really interesting. Step 1: cut your shade/ curtain with any detail you like just large enough to be a little bigger than the actual window opening. Step 2: Tape the “shade/curtain” to the back side of the window. TIP: use some cute tape so your window is cute from both sides. Voila!
